Ruby died at home. Her niece Louise was by her side taking care of her and telling her to “let go.” We were with her, too. She had slipped into a dream world of her past. Ruby’s eyes were fixed in an upward gaze. Distant and very glossy. Every once in a while, she would say in a loud voice, “Get the baby, get the baby.” Nobody knew what she was talking about.
